Short answer
SaaS companies get the most from four short-form formats: feature clips, founder takes, webinar and podcast cuts, and release videos. Screen recordings need zooms, trimmed waiting time, callouts and captions to read on a phone.
The SaaS video gap
Most SaaS companies have a polished explainer on the homepage and a library of long webinars. What they’re missing is the middle — short, frequent videos that show one problem and one fix, posted where buyers scroll every day.
Four formats that work
- Feature clips: one workflow, before and after, in under 45 seconds.
- Founder takes: opinions on the problem space and where the market is going.
- Webinar and podcast cuts: the best answers from customer sessions and interviews.
- Release videos: a short clip for every launch, not just the big ones.
Editing screen recordings for phones
Screen recordings are recorded on a big monitor and watched on a small phone. That’s why most of them are unreadable on social. What fixes it:
- Zoom in on the action. Follow the cursor; crop out the empty parts of the screen.
- Cut the waiting. Loading screens and typing get trimmed or sped up.
- Add callouts. Highlight the button, the number, the result.
- Use a voiceover or a face. A small presenter overlay or narration keeps it human.
- Caption everything. Most people will watch without sound.
Founder-led video
B2B buyers increasingly want to hear from the people building the product. A founder who explains why the problem matters, honestly, builds trust that a feature list can’t. More on this in video editing for founders.
A monthly system
- Product marketing records 6–10 feature walkthroughs (Loom is fine).
- The founder records one 45-minute talking-head session.
- Webinars and podcasts from the month are added to the folder.
- A batch of 20–30 edits comes back, sized for LinkedIn, YouTube, X and vertical platforms.
