Video editing cost calculator

Editing your own short-form videos isn’t free — it costs hours. Enter how many videos you post, how many hours each one takes you to edit and what an hour of your time is worth. See what DIY editing really costs, and which package would cover it.

Tip: use what you bill clients per hour, or what an hour of coaching, consulting or sales is worth to your business.

How the calculator works

It multiplies your monthly videos by the hours each edit takes you, then by your hourly value to get the cost of doing it yourself. It then picks the smallest YASH EDITS package that covers your volume: 30 edits for $299, 60 for $499 or 100 for $899 a month. Above 100 edits, plans are quoted as bulk video editing.

The numbers are only as good as your inputs. A properly edited short-form video usually takes 2.5 to 3 hours: picking the best moments, cutting, captions, b-roll, music, sound and exports all add up. Time yourself on your next three videos for an honest number.

What the calculator leaves out

  • The posts you skip when you run out of time to edit.
  • Quality differences between your edits and a specialist’s.
  • Your time spent briefing and reviewing, usually 5–10 minutes per video once a style is set.
